Another pro for real tracks is racing drivers use games to test there before they get to the track for real.
Many Nascar drivers use Nascar 2003 to learn tracks before they race there.
My mate Ali who used to race legends used GTR in the morgan to practace Donington and more racing drivers means more publisity

ive played Rfactor at a freinds a lot not liked it as much as LFS
i never said it was cool that was a lie!
you must agree though if they can build tracks for the game like Brands or The Norris ring for free it would be a bonus

Yeah like this one

And these

this is my point they are not major tracks so could LFS stick them on for free
I feel for LFS to move foward it needs some real tracks

I have been playing LFS for a few months now and have loved it.
However when im going round Aston or Blackwood i just wish that i could drive an FXR round Silverstone or Spa, or Theglen anything really.

I feel that its a real disadvantage that LFS has against Rfactor and GTR
Im not sure what the costs are about building real tracks in games i know there is a fee or major tracks.
However there are so many tracks for Nascar 2003 and Rfactor that people have made themselves and surley they dont have to pay anyone for it.
I realise that the developers really dont want the source code or the net code to fall into reivals hands and i understand that. but if they could create a track building programme this would be a huge boost to the game.
I have got a lot of my fellow sim racers into the game but the sceptics play the game and ask "are there any real tracks" i awnser no and there is a sigh from them like well thats it then i'll go back to Rfactor or Nascar 2003 etc

So first do all real tracks want a fee if they are put into the game or just the major ones?

Second would it be possible to build a programme that will let people do tracks without revealing LFS secrets?

what do you guys think and know on the matter?

Thanks so much for your opinions guys :-)

really great at the moment i have a momo and a sidewinder none FF and i use the sidewinder the most as with the logitech momo i cant get as good lap times as i can with the sidewinder.

So the no forcefeedback i dont mind so much

Thomas super wheel does anyone have one?

hi just thought i'd ask does anyone have a thomas superwheel? if so what do you think of them? im about to buy the cheapest one as im a poor student who's not made of money!

Im going to upgrade the pots i think too so they will last 10 millioncycles.

But how does the wheel feel and the pedals are they as good as you payed for?
And the gear shifter is it reliable and change well as if i use that wheel for LFS i will no longer have paddles.

Be great if you could tell me what you think of them before i spend £190
cheers

This will be my first LFS league event so i'll see how it goes, I know i can go quicker than i have done ive got 2 more tenths i can find. Its just hard to put a good lap together and with each try taking 2 mins 30 ive lost patiance when i make a mistake!

I might be interested the only problem with those is you need to make really small wheel movments. So maybe when i get my TSW that will make it more easy

I bump draft only if im playing with mates and if in slow cars. With fast cars its far too dangerous.
I have done it a few times in karting at the gp when im stuck behind some guy who's a rolling roadblock. went round turn one as quick as possible hit the back of the kart infront and keep on pushing until we are both past or have an overlap. The guy i was pushing shat himself but adleased the Marshalls laughed.

Ive help push people past in Mini's and GTI's stuff like that i see no problem with that at all as long as its in the right place.

I dont know about you guys but how an earth are we going to get our tyres to last a race! mine are usless after one hotlap sometimes!

Im really enjoying the hot lapping me and my freind Sawyer are doing our best to beat eachother which is helping us get decent times.

I have the same problem with the game freezing for about 10 seconds i hear just the engine sound repeated over and over again, it then unfreezes and i have crashed.

lol you can save that time for the next one. A bit gutted about my lap i was two seconds up on the guy ahead of me in the second sector. But because he has this fancy gear ratio he gained it all back again on the streights.

Im pushing the car really hard and 8th out of 10 isnt so great lol It was the first time on the reverse track and in that car so i guess im not going to get things my own way as much as i do in Nascar 2003.

I just noticed that the best time set was on the normal version of Aston national not the reverse???

I do think they should release the source code it would prob not do any harm.
And some real tracks would be great!
Whats the biggest Crash you have seen?? (race related)

When racing there are always going to be wrecks/crashes its part of racing.
Often i laugh if its a big one but that soon turns to feeling a bit gutted and wishing i was still in the race with the front runners.

Here's one where my mate Sawyer had a rather large crash because of some oversteer.

Anyone got any that can beat it??

Quote from Stealthy04 :on the stunt servers, which i attend alot. they use the features of sand, mud, grass, tarmac and some big jumps that they place on some tracks.

Really enjoyable, id love to see a league made from these, i was thinking about posting it the other day but was too busy on there server

O yeah seen you a lot on the stunt servers i remember watching amazed when you flew round the track with all the ramps in a chataram look alike ive forgotten the name of it now!

Quote from XCNuse :Okay so some of you know i've always been on the low end specs compared to alot of the guys here with 2000$ top end machines

anyways, this is the 3rd graphics card i've gotten, 32 mb on the old computer (which died) got roughly 30 FPS on that old machine, got a dell with a 128mb nvidia FX 5600, and just last night i received a 256mb FX 5500 (not really sure why i got it, but hey, so far im lovin it)

so i figured well hey.. its 256 mb, after looking at all these cards.. well i thought it was gonna be a few hundred dollars.. i was wrong.

My 128mb 5600 with the specs i run (windowed at 1024x768 not quite at full settings and no AA, i got roughly 45ish FPS with about 10 cars in view, keep in mind my dynamic LOD is up at 1! so that saved alot of FPS) during a normal start from the rear of an FV8 race at the oval i hit 20 FPS, and with dynamic LOD up at 1, not only did i not see but about 5 cars in front of me, they looked like blocks at that..

so i installed the 'new' 256mb 5500 into my computer, with same settings, i got nearly TWICE my average FPS 80+..
obviously you can do the math, 128+128=256 which seems right.. well let me say this; when i got my dell 4600 last year, the FX 5600 128mb edition costed about 120$ or so.. checked out the price of the 256mb 5500... 64$ as of last night on amazon.com

nearly twice the speed for half the price, if you dont think you can afford a brand new graphics card (which i know many of us dont want to/cant) i EXTREMELY encourage you to get this card if you have a 128 or lower mb video card, so far.. for its price i believe you could say this card is nothing short of amazing

[system specs for those interested: (2004 Dell Demension 4600i)
2.8 GHz Pentium 4
512 mb RAM
windows XP home SP1
Dx 9.0c
page file @ 636 mb available
256 mb Nvidia GeForce FX 5500]

[general LFS settings (as of use of 128mb 5600)
user lod: 0.80
dust lod: 0.80
mirror lod: 0.10
mip bias -1
disable/enable (from trees to rubber) all on mirror besides rubber
HVS on @ 24 depth
-------------------------------
minimum sleep of 1ms
multiplayer speedup at 180 m
dynamic lod 1]

Are you kidding me or somthing! your System specs are exactly the same as mine right down to the Graphics card that i got after i braught my PC! Only difference is yours is a dell and mine is an Emachine

I had the same problem on a demo server last night i was on an airattack rallycross server and two guys waited in turn one blocking the track and wrecking the feild and they did it again and again!

Now its all well and good saying play on S2 servers but none of them normally do BLrallycross reverse and i cant host.
Further more i went to join a rallycross leuge and they said they were full.

So really these people need to be found out and made known to all the hosts so they can be banned!
